Pre-K - Kindergarten
Equipment
- Students in Pre-K and Kindergarten will not be provided with devices to take home during the 24-25 school year.
Grade 1 - Grade 2
Equipment
- Classroom iPads: Each Homebase class in Grades 1 and 2 will have an iPad cart in the classroom.
- Assigned Devices: Students will be assigned a specific iPad at the beginning of the school year for during class time.
- All Grade 1 and Grade 2 Homebase classes have iPad carts stored in their classrooms; students will be assigned a device at the beginning of the year for classroom use. During the first few weeks of school, Students will receive a technology orientation (how to login, proper use, overview of applications students will use, and digital intelligence). Students will use a Clever badge, in conjunction with the Clever app to log into various apps.
Technology Orientation
- During the first few weeks of school, students will participate in a technology orientation where they will sign a pledge form agreeing to follow technology norms.
- Topics Covered will include:
- Logging In - How to log into their devices.
- Proper Use: Guidelines for appropriate and responsible use of technology.
- Applications Overview: Introduction to key applications students will use.
- Digital Intelligence: Basic principles of digital citizenship and online safety

Logging In With Clever
- Clever Bade: Students will use a Clever badge, which works with the clever app, to log into various educational applications easily and securely.
Grades 3 - 5
Equipment
- Chromebooks in Class: Each Homebase class from 3rd to 5th grade will have a cart of Chromebooks stored in their classrooms.
- Assigned Devices: Students will be assigned a specific a Chromebook at the beginning of the classroom use.
Technology Orientation

- 3rd grade students will receive their school credentials.
Take-Home Devices for 5th Grade
- Additional Device: Only 5th-grade students will be provided with an additional device to take home.
- This device will be sent home during the first few weeks of school to help with completing assignments at home if necessary.
Logging in with Google Credentials
- Riverdale Credentials: All 3rd to 5th grade students will use their Riverdale credentials to log into their Chromebooks.
- Student Logins: Consist of the first initial of their first name, their last name, and their graduation year @riverdale. E.g. scastro29@riverdale.edu (Sammy Castro, graduation year 2029).
Device Replacement and Repair Policy for 5th Graders
Lost, Stolen or Damaged Devices
- Responsibility: IF a device is lost, stolen, or destroyed/damaged beyond repair while off-campous (including at home and during transit to/from school) the family will be responsible for the full oayment cost:
- Replacement Cost: $430 for a Chromebook.
Damage Coverage
- Accidental Damage Coverage: Riverdale purchases accidental damage coverage which covers most broken screens and other minor issues.
- Scope of Coverage: If the damage is beyond the scope of these policies, we will use our discretion and best judgement to determine whether families will be asked to pay for the repair or device replacement.
Chargers
- Replacement: Families are responsible for replacing broken chargers with the equivalent OEM (Lenovo) product.
- Contact Information: Please contact us for details if you need to replace a charger.
Manufacturing Defects
- Investigation: If there is a manufacturing defect or another non-user issue, we will investigate and determine the best course of action.
