==Divisional Policy==
===Lower School===

Lower School daily attendance should be entered into your '''HOMEBASE''' class in FAWeb.  DO NOT enter attendance in any other classes.  For example, "GR 4 H.B. - 4CW" would work, but "GR 4 SCI - 4CW" would ''not''.
Attendance for all divisions must be entered consistently and accurately to ensure the school knows the whereabouts of all students at all times.

The MS policy is to take attendance during the first class of the day and report it in FAWeb. Attendance should not be taken for any other MS classes other than first period.
Lower School daily attendance (also know as master attendance) should be entered by homebase teachers in the [https://portals.veracross.com/riverdale Veracross Faculty Portal] by 9am each day. Specials teachers do not need to enter attendance at this time since we do not take Class Attendance for the lower school.

You are required to report attendance at least twice a day: immediately after first period if you have a first period class, and again for your other classes by the end of the day.  Many teachers find it easier to take attendance at the beginning of each class rather than entering all of your attendance at the end of the day. You are welcome to do the same.

When To Take Attendance

Please do your very best to take attendance at the beginning of every class! It is also especially important for all of the morning attendance to be submitted by 12:00pm. I need that information in order to determine which students are not accounted for that day.

Attendance Related Emails

Sometimes parents or students email teachers directly about missing class. If I am not CC’d on that email, please forward it to me! In addition, please encourage parents to submit attendance requests into the parent portal. All attendance requests must come from parents.

Substituting a Class?

If you are subbing for someone else, please email me the names of the students who are NOT in class. If all are present, just send me a quick “everyone’s here” email!

End-of-the-Day Emails

If a student misses your class with no explanation, mark them as “Not in Class.” Towards the end of the day, I pull a query of all students marked "Not in Class."
