What does "hold for authentication" mean?

This message appears when you try to print after changing your RCS password and you haven't updated your printing keychain password. Thus your laptop cannot authenticate to the RCS print server to print your print jobs.

How do I fix this?

If you're enrolled in Self Service you can update your Keychain Password through the Self Service app.

  1. Open the Self Service app and log in with your RCS credentials
  2. Select the "Keychain" Category on the right
  3. Click the "Update RCS-Print Keychain Password" policy
  4. Follow the prompts for Username and Password
  5. Your printing keychain password is now updated

Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10

  1. Open Control Panel and select Credential Manager (you may need to change the view from Category to Icons in the top right)
  2. Under Windows Credentials click on carbon, then click edit
  3. Change your password and click Save.
