Why Hold Webinars?

For a webinar, you will typically have a handful of presenters, and MANY attendees. A webinar typically does not allow for audience audio or video, since it is more of a presentation (informational) format vs. collaborative. Examples of common webinars at Riverdale are listed below:

Configure Google Meet for Webinars

Webinar Setup in Google Calendar

  1. Create a Calendar Event in Google Calendar
  2. Add Guests to the Calendar Event
    • These are the co-hosts!
  3. Set Meeting Type to Restricted
  4. Save the meeting
  5. Open and Edit the meeting
  6. Click the Gear Icon next to the Google Meet info
  7. Click Guests
  8. Select Everyone is a viewer by default
    • This disables video AND audio unless you are a Contributor or Co-host
  9. Add Co-hosts to the meeting
    • They must be added to the Guest list in the calendar invite first!

After Starting Meeting (Day-of)

  1. A Co-host logs into the Google Meet from Google Calendar
  2. Admit any guest speakers from the waiting room
  3. Make Guest Speakers Co-hosts or Collaborators
  4. Disable Chat, Screensharing, and other relevant settings as needed
  5. Enable or disable Q/A as needed
  6. Setup Poll Questions as needed
  7. Set Meeting Type to Open to disable a waiting room
  8. Admit all waiting room members
