Wipe and reinstall fresh macOS
If you are interested in an out-of-box experience, please follow these detailed instructions from Apple on How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery
Windows
Your laptop must be reset to factory default settings; this provides the new "out of box" experience. Please feel free to book Rob Shin's calendar if you'd like to work through this process together. The procedure performed will be as follows:
Back Up All of Your Files
It is essential to back up all of your files because there's always a risk of losing files when making a major change to the system.
- Google Drive
- My Documents folder
- Pictures
- Music
Perform Factory Reset (Windows 10)
- Plug in the charger so the laptop is running off wall power
- Click the Start button
- Type Settings and hit Enter
- Select Update & Security
- In the left hand menu, click on Recovery
- On right side under Reset this PC, click on Get started
- Choose Keep my files
- Click on Change settings
- Toggle the radio button to Off for the Preinstalled apps
- Hit Next and confirm to proceed with the factory reset
iPad
Please see this article for information about how to prepare your school-managed iPad for return to Riverdale.
Chromebook
JG: we will have to remove management, I presume they'll have to powerwash it and start over.
